KCTU has developed an in-house web-based randomisation service for clinical trials, which has been used to randomise more than 35,000 individual participants across approximately 250 clinical trials. The system was developed to ensure that all clinical trials led by KCL academics – from PhD student to Professor – have access to an affordable, reliable, independent randomisation system that gives journal reviewers confidence that the randomisation process has been managed appropriately.
Methods of randomisation are described in the ‘resources’ section of the website, in the FAQ’s.
A randomisation service may be provided for a trial in the absence of any other KCTU involvement; the study analyst must specify the method to be implemented.
If your study is in the area of mental health or neurosciences, please make an appointment initially to speak to an NIHR RSS advisor at www.ctu.co.uk/NIHR-RSS
For all other clinical areas, a brief support request form must be submitted.
We strongly advise that researchers approach KCTU at the grant application stage, ideally 3-4 months in advance of the submission deadline to get the best possible input and consideration.
Requests for support are circulated to the relevant senior academic and operational staff for consideration, to ensure that the best possible match between the trial and the expert collaborator is achieved.
